The raw materials for Solid Glass Ball are mostly natural ores. Therefore, to manufacture glass balls, firstly, various ores are crushed and processed into a powder. Then, according to the glass composition, a batch is made, which is sent to a glass melting furnace for melting to form molten glass. Qualified molten glass flows through the feeding tank and flows out from the feeding port to form strands. The temperature of the material strands is generally 1150~1170℃ for medium-alkali glass, and 1200~1220℃ for alkali-free glass. The material strands are cut into spheroids nearly 200 times per minute. The billet passes through the chute, the ball divider, and is moved by the ball divider, rolls into different funnels, and then falls into the ball groove formed by three rollers with the same rotation direction. The ball blank rotates on the roller and its own surface tension acts to gradually form a smooth and round glass ball. The size of its diameter is determined by the thickness of the glass stream, the flow rate, and the speed of the scissors.
When the glass ball leaves the roller, the temperature is still high. In order to prevent the sticking of the ball, it needs to be cooled by a cold ball plate or a serpentine track. In order to reduce the residual stress caused by the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the glass ball, it needs to be slowly cooled by annealing. Then stored in the ball warehouse for quality inspection.
